Dr. phil. Dipl.-Psych., Senior Research Scientist, Applied Psychological Science

I am senior scientist and lead the scientific activities of the Multimorbidity and Complexity Research Group. These activities involve the interdisplinary application of conventional and innovative methods and knowledge to study selected issues in multimorbidity. At present, my focus is on how complexity, uncertainty and risk influence physicians’ performance in planning, decision making and communication in variously complex and dynamic patient situations. For this, computer-based microworlds are used to model physicians’ planning and decision making processes. This focus also includes the testing of a 3D virtual-reality system designed for the purpose of evaluating and training communication skills in high pressure working environments. Drawing on my background as a cognitive neuropsychologist, I am also involved in studying the impact of multiple chronic diseases on brain function.
