M.D Senior Researcher, Medical informatics

As someone who studied medicine and has long been interested in the advantage of “big clinical data” for clinical research, I program SQL and R to transform complex, routinely collected data into meaningful results. I apply a variety of techniques, for example, electronic phenotyping, statistical modelling, and cluster analyses; and I also develop novel approaches to tackle problems related to the real-world nature of the data. Among frequently used instruments are the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification System (ATC) as well as further ontologies such as i2b2. The goal of my research is to better understand multimorbidity and ultimately to improve patient safety and quality of care.
